Q. Is there someplace near me where I can see your Pebble Tile?
A. In most cases, No. We are wholesalers to the public and don't have retail outlets in order to keep our cost down.
Q. What is the difference between glazed pebble tile and polished pebble tile?
A. The "Glazed" pebble stones have been professionally treated with a stone sealer and enhancer that can be purchased at http://www2.dupont.com/Stone_Care/en_US/products/enhance/highgloss_sealer_finish.html
that you can seal are other unpolished pebble tile that have not been glazed in which serves to bring out the the colors as well as protect the stones and give them a shiny look. The polished pebble stones have been tumbled to a high shine polish.
Q. What are the maintenance requirements of pebble tile? Do the stones need yearly sealing?
A. Once sealed, pebble tile is very easy to maintain and requires minimal cleaning with any mild household detergent. We do recommend the sealer be reapplied occasionally depending on the use and in accordance with the sealant manufacturers recommendations.
Q. Do you sell individual pebble tiles, half boxes or do you only sell in boxes in ten?
A. Yes, you can order individual tiles by selecting "ADD TO CART - SAMPLE" from the specific pebble tile product page. Each sample is a full 12" x 12" square.
Q. I do not want anything that will be slippery when wet. Is the bumpiness of the pebbles enough to prevent slips? Can I find out the coefficient of friction of the pebble tiles I am interested in?
A. We don't know the exact COF for our products as it would vary depending on the grout type and amount used in the installation. We do know however that our tile is perfectly suitable for shower uses (that is by far the most common use!). The texture of the pebbles along with the grout provides plenty of friction to ensure a non slip surface.
Q. Do you offer pebble tile border or accent pieces?
A. Certain styles of our pebble tile are available in a 4" x 12" border and the rest are very easy to cut into any border size you would like.
You can either cut the mesh backing with scissors and do some manual placement of a few stones or you can use a tile saw to achieve a perfectly straight line as shown here:

Q. I am concerned about the water getting into standing areas in the pebble tile flooring and causing mold?
A. When using our tile after installation you will apply a stone sealer to both the pebbles and the grout that will seal out any mold and mildew so it will not be a concern.
After being sealed cleaning and maintenance of our pebble tile is very easy with any mild household detergent.
We recommend products from DuPont for sealers.

Q. What is the difference/value of your GLAZED or POLISHED stones?
A. Simply a visual difference versus our Natural stones (un-Glazed & non-Polished). We have this application done in Indonesia, but a very similar visual affect can be accomplished by simply applying any Natural Stone High-Gloss Sealer to our Natural Stones (these sealers are available @ Home Depot, Lowes, & flooring/tile stores).
Q. What type of grout is best?
A. For our normal sized pebble, sliced pebbles and mosaic tiles we recommend using a sanded grout.
The mini pebble tiles would require an un-sanded version.
Grout is available in a wide array of colors. The exact color your choose is a matter of personal preference and also would depend on how you want it to contrast with your existing decor.
Q. How much grout do I need per square foot of StrataStones Pebble Tile?
A. In general you will need about two pounds of grout per square foot of our regular sized pebble tile. We recommend pre-mixed grout for ease of use.
Grout is available at nearly any hardware store
Q. Which is best for my shower or bathroom floor...your Mosaic Tile (Flat stones) or your Pebble tile?
A. It is solely your visual preference, as the Pebbles are flush on the surface and even provide a therapeutic feel and the Mosaics (Flat stones) look most like conventional bathroom flooring surfaces (although their traction is superior to most all of them.
Q. When I get to the end, do I have to cut the stones to make an "even/straight" finish?
A. Our stones can be cut with a stone/wet saw, but this is only necessary for the creation of the most finite mosaic patterns. For over 99% of all installations, the grout will fill in the indentations at the edges, thus creating the visual of a straight line...or you can just pull off the approx size stones from an extra square and "plug" in.
Q. Can I use them in my shower?
A. More than 50% of the usage of our stones is for Bathrooms....most commonly shower floors, then bathroom floors then the walls...AND none of our product's surfaces are slippery (even our Glazed or Polished products).
